Deadpool is one of the Marvel film properties which has not really had much in the way of news updates even as it is scheduled for February 2016 release. The film, starring Ryan Renoylds (Green Lantern, Amnityville Horror) and directed by first time helm Tim Miller who’s only current credits include “creative director” of the opening sequences for Thor: Dark World and Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (check out the video below) and then hit the jump for the official Deadpool synopsis…
And now finally there is some updates on the film via the official synopsis:
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
Who is “the man” who nearly destroyed Deadpool? Fan speculation points towards Garrison Kane,a creation of comic book veterans Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld. Like Deadpool (and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine), Kane was a subject of the Weapon X program which enhanced his combative potential by giving him cybernetic arms.
Deadpool not only has the potential to undo the mess that was X-Men Origins: Wolverine by offering a better take on Weapon X itself, meaning it could possibly showcase a new Wolverine origin which could give a reasonablly explanation i.e. a way “out” for Hugh Jackman who has stated Wolverine 3 as his last time for playing the character which in part may be especially important due to the timeline alterations resulting from Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.
