The 2010 film Monsters which was director Gareth Edwards’ first full length feature film  and arguably a filmmaker trial run before going into the big leagues of hollywood by directing Godzilla a few years later received critical praise and had a hefty profit on a micro-budget of only half a million dollars,  pulling in just over four million at the box office. The plot was rather simple, think of it as Jurassic Park from outer space meets a mixture of Survivor and the Amazing Race.

A man must help a woman get across Mexico to the fortified border with the USA but to reach safely they must travel through an alien infected “Danger Zone” filled with the titular extraterrestrial monsters. The director film much of the movie using pro-sumer camcorders and created all the visual effect himself using off-the-shelf Adobe software, ZBrush, and Autodesk 3ds Max.

This time around the story will revolve around solider in the Army whom is searching for his comrade who has gone rogue and stop him least he cause and international incident, all while fighting hordes of Monsters over seas in the middle east.

The sequel has premiered as part of the BFI London Film Festival in October of last year, but the theatrical release has been delayed three times  so far and the current release date is tentatively schedule for May 1, 2015. Check out the official trailers below:
