any lm with time disruption or time travel I usually watch with a strong aura of skepticism, they mostly do not work all that well (Project Almanac for instance) and when I read reviews that Edge of Tomorrow was supposedly a futuristic war movie and resembled Groundhog Day, I was even more skeptical, even though I liked Groundhog Day, I just couldn’t see it, and then when I found out Tom Cuise was starring I was even less interested, until I thought about the ideal of watching him die like a hundred times and decided to give Edge of tomorrow a go. And boy was I plesantly surprised, the time displacement theme worked great and watching Tom die ever few minutes was hilarious
I now consider the film a underrated and misunderstood gem. And now Tom Cruise himself has some ideals for a sequel.
Cruise, speaking at the New York premiere for Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, revealed to MTV that he has already discussed a sequel which would include the original film’s major players. Here’s what Cruise had to say:
“I pitched it to [Rogue Nation director and Edge of Tomorrow screenwriter Christopher] McQuarrie and [Edge of Tomorrow director] Doug [Liman]. We were there one night and I was like, I’ve got an idea for it.”
Cruise wouldn’t share details on what the Edge of Tomorrow sequel story would entail, but if it does happen, Cruise said the sequel would also need the involvement of costar Emily Blunt.
“It could be so much fun. Gotta get Emily. I was like ‘Emily, please.’ She was like, ‘give me another year, please.’”
