Though the sides have already been chosen, there’s one character suspiciously absent from the lineup: Scarlet Witch. After the death of her brother at the end of Age of Ultron, she appeared to be committed to joining the Avengers and becoming a hero. However, considering the character’s history of instability, many have wondered if she has fully recovered from his tragic death.
Speaking with MTV (via CBM) about her character, Olsen revealed new details about Scarlet Witch’s state of mind as well as her role in the upcoming Captain America Civil War
“She’s OK. She’s doing alright. She’s confused, she’s conflicted. She’s found some people she thinks she connects with, but she’s doing alright. They released images of Team Cap and Team Iron Man. She wasn’t there. She’s always the wild card. I like being the wild card.”
Scarlet Witch’s powers over reality could make her one of the heaviest hitters in the Avengers. In the interview, Olsen indicated that her powers may be evolving past what was shown in Age of Ultron and that she’s currently working with movement coach Jennifer White to improve the character’s sense of motion.
“It’s not a new hand technique per se. We’re trying to grow her movement as a whole… Jenny and I have great pride in trying to make this a huge transformation – the next time we see her – of her abilities.”
